matthew

“Matthew is a seasoned and passionate individual who thrives on bridging the gap between creativity and opportunity, whilst challenging the status quo”

“Matthew co-founded MessageTree in 2013, to support mobile operators and service providers forge new partnerships that address emerging industry sectors through technology enablement”

Matthew Hornsey

Having started his career at Jersey Telecom (JT) in 2000, Matthew quickly progressed through the company performing various roles, when in 2002 he co-founded JT’s offshore services division (JT Global). As the principle Business Development Manager, Matthew built a diverse portfolio of partners and service offerings that included wholesale messaging, voice interconnect, mobile virtual networks, maritime GSM and Machine-2-Machine (M2M). The result : a business unit that grew to contribute significantly to JT’s annual turnover and laid the foundations for what is now a 40% overall contribution to group revenue.

In search of a fresh challenge, Matthew left JT in 2010 to develop his international experience and network. Taking up the role of Vice President – Strategy and Partnerships for Infobip based in Europe, Matthew worked side-by-side with the CEO and COO, to formulate a business strategy that would propel Infobip from market-entrant, to leading global provider of mobile messaging and payment services and infrastructure.

In 2011 Matthew joined CLX Networks – named in Wired magazine’s Europe’s Hottest 100 Startups in 2012 – as Director Operator Relations, where he worked together with the company’s founders to develop key strategic operator relations and lead the merger of sales activities across the two group companies – CLX Networks (services) and Symsoft (platforms).

Recognising the changing dynamics of the telecoms market, Matthew co-founded MessageTree in 2013.

“Simon is an engineer and happiest figuring out the path to somewhere new

“I have spent my career persuading current, or building new, technology to do the things we want it to do. I love the challenge of figuring out how”

Simon Hodkinson

Simon has been involved in information technology, in one form or another, for over 20 years, with a focus on telecommunications and product research in the last ten.

Achieving his bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from the University of Central Lancashire, Simon has since progressed to hold enough professional qualifications to forget the ones that first went on the list.

Simon has held senior positions in a number of companies and institutions and successfully lead teams to produce leading solutions for their time. Responsible for all aspects of MessageTree’s technology and the author of the systems that provide the current API’s, Simon started with a blank page and many ideas several years ago.

Most of Simon’s spare time is spent researching ideas in wider engineering topics and collaborating with, what now would be termed, makers on various projects.

A love of an eclectic variety of friends, music and film, happily fills the rest.
